  • Overview

    Under the direction of Production Foreman or Lead Operator, operate production equipment in order to maintain daily production in assigned field.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain production rate by performing daily operational checks, including all associated paperwork and logs.
    • Test wells on a daily basis to determine production rates and problems.
    • Responsible for daily operations of oil, water and gas processing equipment.
    • Identify problems or potential problems with equipment (meters, control valves, level controls, etc.) and assist maintenance staff with other maintenance and repairs.
    • Substitute for other field personnel as needed.
    • Work to achieve Breitburn company production, profitability, safety and environmental targets.
    • Follow safety procedures and maintain proper cleaning and housekeeping in the field and in the office.

    Qualifications

    High School degree or equivalency

    5 years of relevant oilfield experience

    • Knowledge of environment and safety regulations
    • Basic computer skills for sending/receiving e-mail and data entry
    • Practical: Demonstrates a very good knowledge of day to day operations, upcoming events, and plans work around such events. Works with all personnel and should be capable of working as both Operator and or Maintenance as needed. At this level, it is expected that the operator understand that he or she is responsible for maintenance while in the daily course of duty. Assures that others are following all safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Production System: Trains operators on knowledge and skill required for safe operation of production systems. Performs routine checks and assesses problems and comes up with solutions.

    • Process Control & Automation: Develops work plans based on production data. Identifies need to modify or optimize PLC logic.

    • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots complex problems and leads troubleshooting training.
    • Production Equipment: Demonstrates knowledge of equipment criticality. Analyzes failures and counsels lead operator. Makes incidental repairs and sees to it that bigger jobs get the attention needed.

      Demonstrates the ability to start and stop equipment properly. Has a basic understanding of automation equipment, the purpose of its service and the repercussions due to failure.
